1–100 testing.

Write up to 100 versions of an email, see which gets the most replies, and send the winner to everyone.

A 1–100 test sends different versions of the same email to different leads. Then you see which version gets the most replies. You can write from 2 up to 100 versions of each email.

Add versions

  1. Open the campaign’s Content step.
  2. Open an email and click 1–100 test: add a version.
  3. Write version 2. Change the subject, the email, or both.
  4. Keep adding versions, up to 100. With more than 10, pick a version from the list to edit it.

Leads are split evenly between the versions, at random. Each lead always gets the same version.

Test one thing at a time

Change only the subject, or only the opening line. Then you know what made the difference.

How many versions?

Every version needs enough emails before its result means anything. A good rule: at least 50 emails per version, better 100.

  • 1,000 leads: up to about 10 versions.
  • 10,000 leads: you can test many more.

With fewer leads, test fewer versions.

Pick the winner automatically

Tick Pick the winner automatically after and choose how many emails per version, for example 100.

When every version has sent that many, we wait 3 days so replies can arrive. Then the version with the best reply rate wins. Clicks, then opens, break a tie. Every lead not emailed yet gets the winner.

See the results

Open the campaign. The 1–100 test card shows every version: sent, opened, clicked and replied. The version with the most replies is marked leading. With many versions, the best ones are shown first.

Click Pick as winner to choose one yourself at any time. Click Keep testing to undo it.

Replies, not opens

Opens are unreliable: Apple Mail and security scanners open emails nobody reads. So replies decide the winner.

Preview and test

In Preview and send a test, choose a version to see it, and send yourself a test of that version.
